First Steps Pediatrics is a concierge pediatric practice in Tribeca providing personalized newborn care for families throughout New York City. Led by triple board-certified pediatrician Dr. Nilay Donmez, our practice is designed to give new parents something that can be difficult to find during the newborn period: time, access, continuity, and a pediatrician who truly knows your baby.

We care for newborns in our Tribeca office and offer pediatric house calls throughout Manhattan and select Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Pediatric Care Before Your Baby Is Even Born

Choosing your pediatrician before delivery can make the transition home with your newborn much easier.

Expecting members of First Steps Pediatrics receive a complimentary prenatal education session with Dr. Donmez to prepare for the first days of life.

We discuss newborn feeding, sleep, common newborn behaviors, what to expect after delivery, your baby's first pediatric visits, and the questions that often arise during that first week.

Our goal is simple: you shouldn't have to figure everything out for the first time while you're exhausted and holding a three-day-old baby.

Newborn Care With Direct Access to Your Pediatrician

The newborn period comes with questions that don't always fit neatly into an office visit.

Is this breathing normal? Is my baby eating enough? Is this rash concerning? How many wet diapers should we be seeing? Is this amount of crying normal?

First Steps members have direct access to their pediatric care team for questions and concerns between appointments.

When appropriate, we can also use an at-home remote examination device to evaluate certain concerns remotely, allowing Dr. Donmez to see and hear more than is possible during a traditional video visit.

Longer, Unhurried Newborn Visits

Newborn appointments shouldn't feel rushed.

Our extended visits allow time to evaluate your baby's growth and development while also discussing feeding, breastfeeding or formula feeding, sleep, jaundice, skin concerns, stooling, newborn behavior, parental adjustment, and the many questions that naturally arise during the first weeks of life.

Newborn House Calls in NYC

For families who prefer to remain home during the early newborn period, pediatric house calls are available as an optional service.

Dr. Donmez provides newborn home visits throughout Manhattan and select areas of Brooklyn, bringing personalized pediatric care directly to your family.

In-Network Pediatric Care

First Steps Pediatrics participates with most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare/Oxford, and many Blue Cross Blue Shield/Anthem plans.

Insurance is used for covered medical services. Membership supports the enhanced services that traditional insurance generally does not cover, including direct physician access, extended visits, care coordination, parent coaching, remote examination capabilities, and ongoing support between appointments.

Our Tribeca pediatric office is conveniently located for families in Tribeca, SoHo, West Village, Greenwich Village, Battery Park City, Financial District, Seaport, NoHo, Nolita, and surrounding Downtown Manhattan neighborhoods.

House calls are also available throughout Manhattan and select Brooklyn neighborhoods.
