We will review your message promptly and recommend the most appropriate next step, whether that's a telehealth visit, an urgent office visit, or emergency evaluation.

📅 Appointment Policy

Our schedule is built around dedicated, unhurried time for each family.

Out of respect for that time — and for other families — cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged a $250 fee.

Recommended Well-Child Visit Schedule

Newborn (1–3 days after hospital discharge) • 2 weeks • 1 month • 2 months • 4 months • 6 months • 9 months • 12 months

• 15 months • 18 months • 2 years • 2½ years

• 3 years • Yearly beginning at 4 years of age

🏠 Home Visits

We are happy to offer home visits for select appointments, including newborn care.

Home visits are an optional add-on service separate from the annual membership fee. Fees vary based on location. Please contact us for current pricing and availability.

🏙️ When Dr. Donmez Is Away

First Steps Pediatrics is a solo physician practice. If Dr. Donmez is away or your child needs an in-person visit on a weekend, we can help connect you with trusted local pediatric care options.

For families seeking a concierge-style experience, we frequently recommend Carnegie Hill Pediatrics on the Upper East Side. They provide excellent pediatric care and remain out-of-network with insurance plans. Families may be able to submit a superbill to their insurance carrier for potential reimbursement.

For families who prefer a downtown location or an in-network option, Tribeca Pediatrics is in-network with most major insurance plans and their Tribeca office is open seven days a week, including weekends.

Another option is Sollis Health, a membership-based urgent care service with locations open 24/7. First Steps Pediatrics families may receive a preferred rate when mentioning our practice during enrollment.

🩺 Insurance & Billing

Please note that all clinical interactions—whether in person, by phone, or by video—are documented in your child's medical record and submitted to your insurance when appropriate.

We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to understand your plan's copays, deductibles, and covered services.

Please note that if a new medical concern is addressed during a well-child visit, it may be billed separately from the preventive visit, as required by your insurance plan.

If you have a newborn, please add your baby to your insurance as soon as possible after birth and notify our office once the update is complete to help prevent delays in coverage and claims.

You'll receive a self check-in link before your appointment. Please take a moment to review and update your information — including insurance details and card on file — and complete any clinical questionnaires. This helps us make the most of your time together.
